Among the up-and-coming thriller writers in the world today, Renee Roberson is a pleasant surprise. She has won a number of awards for her short stories, including first place in the 2018 Writer’s Digest competition for thriller fiction.
Yet Renee’s writing is also a reminder of how diverse the “thriller” category of books actually is. It can encompass elements of everything from suspense, espionage, mystery, horror, psychological, political, science fiction and young adult stories. Renee finds her greatest strength in the young adult world, but clearly with a strong thriller vein throbbing throughout.
Renee currently lives in North Carolina with her husband and two children. She left the advertising and public relations world in 2003 to begin working as a freelance writer, motivated by the birth of her first child. She is now revising a middle-grade novel about a girl’s adventures in time travel, as well as a young adult novel. You might recall that J.K. Rowling wrote about young people in a school for wizardry — and didn’t do too badly.
Renee is a rising thriller writer worth watching.
